Azura is seeking a Natural Resource Economist for a full-time position to support the NOAA Fisheries, Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office.

POSITION DUTIES: Develop and implement methods to analyze economic impacts of regulations, policies, or alternatives intended to protect Atlantic large whales, including the North Atlantic right whale, from entanglement in commercial fisheries and vessel strikes. Conduct reviews of relevant data, methods, and procedures pursuant to the appropriate statutes, regulations, executive orders, and other policies. This includes, but is not limited to, the ESA (including Section 7), MMPA, NEPA, Regulatory Flexibility Act, and Executive Order 12866. Develop a detailed work plan, including a schedule of milestones, for the completion of an economic impact analysis sufficient to meet the requirements of the relevant guiding statutes and policies. Execute the economic impact analysis using available data and methods such that the analysis informs regulatory policy decision-making and satisfies the requirements of relevant statutes and policies. Support Team meetings, scoping meetings, and public comments.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in economics, natural resource economics, natural resource management, or other relevant discipline.
PLACE OF PERFORMANCE AND WORK SCHEDULE: Work is to be conducted at the NOAA Fisheries, Greater Atlantic Regional Fisheries Office, 55 Great Republic Drive, Gloucester MA 01930. This position is full-time (40 hours per week, Monday through Friday) during normal operating hours of the facility. Some travel to in-person meetings may be required. This position is not open to visa sponsorship or relocation assistance.
