Under this new NOAA ProTech Fisheries task order, Azura is supporting Alaska Fisheries Science Center’s Auke Bay Laboratories’ (ABL) fish and fisheries programs including the Salmon Ocean Ecology and Bycatch Analysis (SOEBA) program.
SOEBA focuses on conducting research to understand the ecological processes that drive the productivity of anadromous fish populations in freshwater, estuarine, transitional, and marine ecosystems of the Gulf of Alaska and Bering Sea to aid state and federal fishery managers in making informed science-based decisions to help sustain fish populations, fisheries, and fishing communities.
To support ABL and the SOEBA program, Azura is providing field research support services at the Little Port Walter research station on Baranof Island. Primary tasks include sampling, tagging, spawning, and processing fish; providing husbandry support for aquaculture species; conducting laboratory analyses of oceanographic samples; collecting, entering, managing, and analyzing data; and project reporting.
