LADC-GEMM 2017 Survey

The Littoral Acoustic Demonstration Center-Gulf Ecological Monitoring and Modeling (LADC-GEMM) Consortium recently conducted a visual and acoustics survey for marine mammals in the northern Gulf of Mexico. The main goal of this study was to quantify short-term and long-term changes in baseline ambient noise levels and marine mammal distribution in the Mississippi Canyon region near where the Deepwater Horizon oil spill incident occurred in 2010.

The research team for this survey included scientists from the University of Southern Mississippi (USM), Oregon State University (OSU), University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL), Seiche Limited, ASV Global, Proteus Technologies LLC, and Azura Consulting LLC.

To learn more about this study and our adventures at sea, please check out the LADC-GEMM website and Facebook page and the articles in the LADC-GEMM Survey blog series posted here…
